Golden Grove Road Upgrade


The South Australian Government announced the upgrade of the 3.4 kilometre section of Golden Grove Road between One Tree Hill Road and Park Lake Drive.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) has developed a concept design for the project that includes:

  • a new roundabout at the junction of Golden Grove Road and Hancock Road;
  • additional lanes at the intersection of Golden Grove Road, The Grove Way and Yatala Vale Road;
  • protected right turn lanes at most unsignalised junctions;
  • on-road bike lanes in each direction;
  • improved pedestrian facilities including new footpath and pedestrian crossing facilities; and
  • indented bus bays.

The project will also include kerbing, guttering, drainage, targeted road resurfacing, as well as new and upgraded road lighting.

The Golden Grove Road Upgrade Project will be delivered in a staged approach:

Stage 1 - One Tree Hill Road to south of signalised intersection of Golden Grove Road/Yatala Vale Road/The Grove Way

Stage 2 – Park Lake Drive to south of signalised intersection of Golden Grove Road/Yatala Vale Road/The Grove Way

The detailed design for the Golden Grove Road Upgrade Project is currently being finalised and is due for completion in the coming months.

DPTI is also undertaking a planning study to investigate future public transport services and infrastructure in the North Eastern suburbs, which is due for completion in March. The findings of this planning study will contribute to the future design and development of the recently announced O-Bahn extension feasibility study and the final detailed design for stage 2 of the Golden Grove Road Upgrade Project.

To ensure any requirements for a future O-Bahn extension are accommodated, timing for the delivery of stage 2 of the Golden Grove Road Upgrade Project will be determined pending the outcome of the planning study. Construction works on Stage 1 of the Golden Grove Road Project will commence in the second half of 2019.
