Speed limit change on Sturt Highway at Blanchetown

3 February 2017

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises motorists of a change of speed limit on the Sturt Highway at Blanchetown from 110km/h to 80km/h.

New speed limit signs will be installed on Thursday 9 February and Friday 10 February and will be in effect immediately.

The new speed limits, which will apply from just east of the DPTI heavy vehicle inspection station and will conclude just east of the intersection with Hunter Road/Paisley Road, are due to concerns raised by the Blanchetown community and the Member for Stuart.

“80 AHEAD” signs will also be installed to advise road users of the impending lower speed limit.

Signs advising that traffic conditions have changed will be erected about 1km in advance of the lower speed limit (both approaches) for a minimum of three months.

A sign encouraging heavy vehicle operators to limit engine noise will be erected on the eastern approach for a minimum of three months.

While no lane restrictions are expected to be in place during the installation of the signs, road users are requested to take extra care when workers are on site and observe traffic signage and speed restrictions.
