Reduced speed limits for bushfire affected area

30 Nov 2015

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises motorists and the general public that some roads affected by the Pinery bushfires will have reduced speed limits to protect public safety.

Dust from the fireground has resulted in poor visibility for some roads north of Gawler leading to the decision from the Department to reduce speed limits in the interest of public safety. This is effective immediately and will continue until further notice.

  • Speed restrictions have been applied to the following roads:
  • Sturt Highway = 60 km
  • Horrocks Highway (between Roseworthy and Tarlee) = 60 km
  • Traeger Road (between Mallala and Balaklava) = 60 km
  • Owen Road (between Hamley Bridge and Owen) = 60 km
  • Thiele Highway = 60 km

The public are asked to avoid dangerous areas and continue to observe road notices.
