Community Grant applications

6 February 2015

Applications for grants that encourage safer and more active travel options are now open to groups and organisations across South Australia.

Each year a total of $100,000 is provided by the Department in partnership with the Motor Accident Commission.

The grants are a great opportunity for communities to work together and produce some positive road safety outcomes in their area. Applicants can apply for projects that aim to improve road safety or promote cycling, walking or catching public transport.

Some of the most successful projects have delivered major benefits for their local community.

For example, last year the Pioneers Basketball Club was awarded $10,451 to develop a carpooling programme for their players and coaches who needed to drive long distances for matches. The District Council of Mount Barker was awarded $7,600 to encourage people using mobility scooters to ride on dedicated paths and trails rather than on roads where no footpaths exist.

Applications close on Friday 13 March 2015.

For more information about the funding criteria or to apply, visit the Community Programs webpage or call (08) 8343 2180.
