A total of 52 kilometres of audio tactile linemarking will be installed on various roads in the northern area of South Australia with works commencing Wednesday, 5 April 2017.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) is installing Audio Tactile Linemarking (ATLM) at the following locations:

  • Stuart Highway between Cadney Park and Pootnoura, 28km
  • Augusta Hwy between Weeroona Island turn-off and Merriton, 17.5km
  • Flinders Highway between Coffin Bay and Port Lincoln, 6.5km

The ATLM will assist in reducing rural road crashes by providing noise and vibratory warning to road users who may veer towards the road edge due to fatigue or poor visibility.

Work will be undertaken between 9.00 am and 5.30 pm, 7 days a week, with expected completion by early May 2017, weather permitting.

DPTI will make every effort to minimise the impact on road users during construction hours with the road remaining open to traffic while the works are being undertaken.

The works are being carried out at an estimated cost of $220 000 as part of the Australian Government’s Periodic Road Maintenance Programme.

DPTI thanks motorists for their patience while these important safety works are carried out.
