Building Policy

Building rules set out the minimum standards that apply to building and construction work.This is important to protect our public health, safety and general welfare as it relates to both the construction and occupancy of buildings and structures.

To gain approval, building work and construction work needs to be assessed by the relevant authority (council or private certifier) to determine that critical building standards have been met. Currently, the building rules in South Australia are:
