About the project

The Kidman Bridge was originally built in 1935. These works will ensure long term protection of the steelwork and increase the life span of the bridge.

To safely undertake these works it was done in an environmental containment system, known as encapsulation. This meant no debris entered the environment or the River Torrens

What we did

We completed these works in July 2025.

We have:

• repaired deteriorated areas under the bridge

• removed old paint and replaced it with new lead-free paint

• repaired the bridge concrete piers and deck under the bridge.
