A Friday Note - 27 November 2015

As I write this many South Australians are sifting through the devastation of the Pinery bushfire. Our Department will do all in our power to keep people safe through our coordinated work with emergency services to assess the damage to roads and infrastructure and return them to safe use.

Our thoughts are with the people and communities affected by this terrible event, including many of our own staff.

ON THE RIGHT TRACK REMOTE

Congratulations to our On the Right Track Remote team, who are wrapping up their final visits to the APY and MT Lands for 2015 after an exciting first year of providing driver licensing services to local communities. The program has been very well received – so far over 600 people have signed up, 25 have progressed to a P licence, 30 have been issued a Learner's Permit and 11 have been granted ministerial exemptions. You can find out more at www.dpti.sa.gov.au/ontherighttrack.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW GRADUATES

Please welcome up to 40 undergraduate vacation employment students who join our Department this Monday for 12 weeks. While the placement supports their studies they will help us with a fresh set of eyes to complete interesting and unique scopes of work. Encourage them in their placements and showcase to them what you enjoy about working for our Department.

WELL DONE

AC/DC Public Transport

They came, they rocked, and with a little help from us their fans got home safe and sound. Well done to our public transport ops staff for putting on extra trains for AC/DC concert goers, and for their excellent efforts to get the crowds through the gates and back again.

Have a good weekend
