The first real taste of summer for those in the city, with temperatures nearing 30 degrees on Wednesday.

SAFETY

As of midnight on Thursday, October 5 there had been 80 fatalities on South Australian roads so far this year.

OUR WORK, MORE JOBS

It was pleasing to hear first-hand from an operator the impact of opening up roads for B-Triple trucks.

Moving cattle from the Innamincka area is now $10 per head cheaper. In the past two weeks since Triples have been approved, this operator alone has been involved with the movement of five triple loads, with another five planned for the next week.

All these loads have or will be delivered to the Teys Brothers Meat Works in Naracoorte. If Triples had not been approved to come down to Orroroo, all of these loads would have been delivered to Beenleigh in Queensland.

CITY TRAM WORKS

A massive thank you to the community for their patience and understanding while we continue works on the tram extension along North Terrace.

Motorists have been brilliant in the way they’ve adapted and responded. It is much appreciated.

Well done to Traffic Management Centre and Operational Planning and Standards.

INDUSTRY SUPPORT

Our department continues to lead the nation with initiatives in transport and the industry continues to show its support.

FUNDRAISER
Risk and Assurance recently got into the spirit of “Talk Like a Pirate Day” and raised more than $100 in support of Childhood Cancer Support.

FESTIVAL OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN

The Office for Design and Architecture SA at Leigh Street will be in the thick of the action this month.

Events include the Festival of Architecture and Design (details here); Dickson and Platten, Architects: 1950-2000 Exhibition
(at 28 Leigh Street every Saturday in October between 10am and 3pm) and Renewal SA there is putting on a “STREET ApPEEL” party from 5pm tonight
