A Friday Note - 6 May 2016

Dear all
It’s been a week to take stock after last Thursday’s Lonsdale sub-station outage. Many people worked extremely hard behind the scenes to get electric trains running again, and then had to back it up by providing extra services for a packed weekend sporting calendar.
Yesterday we rolled out free train travel across all metro lines as a thank you to our passengers for their patience and understanding – the gesture was a fitting response and was well received by customers who are the foundation of what we do here.
Thank you for your hard work and professionalism.
PROJECTS
More big developments at the Torrens to Torrens Project from tonight. Despite challenging weather conditions, a range of activities are being undertaken for the Stage 3 traffic switch to allow for construction of a new bridge at the South Road/Port Road intersection. Click here to see how the project’s tracking.
Over at Northern Connector, vital training and employment opportunities are being created – take a look at the news story which includes a video on this ground-breaking employment project.
DIGITAL BY DEFAULT
SA Government has made a commitment to being ‘Digital by Default’. Our work on a digital transformation program is starting, and your ideas are needed. Find out more here, and contribute to the project by completing a short survey about DPTI’s digital services. Your insight matters.
IN THE COMMUNITY
National Reconciliation Week is fast approaching – an important time to reflect on our cultural identity. This department embraces diversity and we look forward to the activities being planned.
Kilkenny train station’s looking a lot brighter thanks to a community art project that’s come to life with help from one of our own. David Mills, a Project Officer with Public Transport Operations and Planning, has been on a special mission which was featured in a local newspaper.
WELL DONE
One of our tram operators, Louise Stopp, is singing the praises of three passengers – two off-duty nurses and a young man with first aid training – who responded with composure when another passenger suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest on her tram in Victoria Square last Friday. They provided care and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Thank you to all four, it’s a wonderful example of looking after the welfare of those around us.
Have a good weekend
