CONNECT - Message from the Chief Executive

Dear all,

It’s going to stay warm as we head toward Australia Day, and various areas of our department are busily preparing for a great movement of people. We will be repeating our detour of Port Wakefield to ease the public holiday road congestion as well as putting on extra buses, trains and trams to cater for big crowds in the city to watch the cycling and cricket and enjoy the fireworks.

Whatever you have planned, I wish you a safe, relaxing and enjoyable Australia Day.


Our department’s work health safety and welfare communication committee works to facilitate the development of a positive safety culture through improving safety and injury management systems and focusing on work health and safety consultation, communication and associated matters impacting our department. I want to acknowledge the terrific efforts of our assessment branch who work tirelessly to meet demanding project deadlines critical to the success of major projects.


Spectators heading to the city for the final stage of the Tour Down Under this Sunday will have the chance to view first-hand the plans for Adelaide’s Festival Plaza redevelopment. Our department is closely involved in the development of this exciting, world-class destination at the heart of the Riverbank Precinct and we want to hear what South Australians think about the design. The open day will be held between 10am and 5pm at the Festival Plaza. Plans are available at the Riverbank Precinct website at


A number of DPTI employees handle public credit /debit cards and there are a number of responsibilities and obligations to ensure confidentiality of cards and associated customer data.

The focus of scammers has moved away from credit cards to the merchant terminals themselves.  All staff using merchant terminals to process payments from the public should be aware of potential scams and should view the following videos and attached fact sheet on how easy it is for malicious individuals to skim or replace terminals.

Our investment services area is currently reviewing this policy.


Stuart Moseley leaves the Department today and I would like to thank Stuart for his hard work and wish him well for the future.

The reallocation of the Information and Strategy functions will take effect from Monday and will include the following changes:

  • Alex Hart will work with Don Hogben
  • Andrew Grear and Mike Burdett will work with Sally Smith
  • Delfina Lanzilli will work with Steve McQuillan; and
  • Brenton Pike will work with Steve McQuillan.


Congratulations to Nick Tridente, who is our Associate Government Architect as well as Director of Tridente Architects.  Woods Bagot/Tridente Architects have won a world award for their adaptive reuse work at Tonsley Main Assembly Building, the second time only that an Australian project has won this award.
