Director, Road Network Maintenance

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) plays a crucially important role in South Australia, managing the maintenance, operation and service delivery across all of the State's transport networks, construction of transport and other government-funded infrastructure.

This newly created, Executive appointment will provide the successful appointee with responsibility for the oversight and management of all aspects of State-wide road maintenance activities, managing the performance and compliance of network maintenance contractors, and coordinating actions across DIT to deliver required asset outcomes for all customers and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Road and Marine Services, you will direct the development of integrated programs designed to optimise network performance, lead and oversee all aspects of DIT road maintenance contract management, design and implement effective reporting and analytical tools to support contract and asset management, and manage all day to day aspects of DIT's workforce delivery model.

Your critical and analytical thinking ability will be paired with outstanding interpersonal communication skills, commercial acumen and people skills; all paramount to your success in managing staff, service provider relationships, engagement and collaboration with customers and stakeholders to better define road user needs and priorities, ensuring quality work is performed meeting full compliance with WHS legislations, standards, policies and regulations; and in ensuring DIT is appropriately resourced to deliver outcomes in line with its budget targets and deliverables across the Network Maintenance Directorate.

Significant management experience in contract management and/or a road asset management function is essential. Responsible for leading a team of approximately 85 people, this outstanding opportunity will be rewarding, challenging, and career defining.
