Program Overview

Applications for the 2019-20 Vacation Program are now closed!

Our Undergraduate Vacation Employment Program offers university students the exciting opportunity to do paid work placements with us over their summer break. This program is specifically designed to provide university students who are undertaking an undergraduate degree, with the practical experience to develop skills in their chosen discipline. With roles located across multiple disciplines, students get the real taste of Government operations.

The 2019-20 program is for a twelve week period from Monday 2 December 2019 to Friday 21 February 2020, excluding public holidays.

We are looking for students from a wide range of degrees and discipline areas.

Placements and projects may be available in the following areas:

  • Business Management and Intelligence
  • Engineering
  • Finance/Commerce
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology
  • Law
  • Media and Communications
  • Organisation Development and Training
  • Procurement and Contracting
  • Project Management
  • Risk and Assurance
  • Urban and Regional Planning
  • Work Health & Safety

What We Look For In a Candidate

We are looking for undergraduates with a diverse range of skills, knowledge and personal qualities, including:

Recruitment Process

Recruitment for the Undergraduate Vacation Employment Program for 2019/20 is as follows;

1. Email DPTI.Recruitment@sa.gov.au with your full application, including:

Applications for the 2019/20 Program closed at 5:00pm Friday 11th October 2019.

2. Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted for various projects

3. Panel interviews will be conducted for shortlisted applicants

4. Reference checks will be completed

5. Successful applicants will be contacted and offered a position

Please note that some roles may also require Employment Screenings and/or Clearances. Applicants will be contacted should be required to provide such clearances.

No late or incomplete applications will be accepted.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Undergraduate Vacation Employment Program, you must:

  • be in the process of completing an undergraduate degree from an accredited university;
  • be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have eligibility to work in Australia for the twelve week period;
  • be available for the entire 12 week period between Monday 2 December 2019 to 21 February 2020;
  • have completed the online application process in full.

Please note that preference will be given to undergraduate students in their second, third or final year of study.
