Way2Go Bike Ed Delivery Options

Way2Go Bike Ed offers six delivery options. Make sure that your school satisfied each item in the category description before registering.

Please note:

  • In order to reach as many schools and students across the state priority is given to students who have not completed the program in previous years.
  • The program is available for students aged 9-12. The recommended year levels for participation are year 5-6 (aged 10-12). By this age the majority of students can ride a bike and the program can focus on developing students ability to manage an on-road traffic environment.
  • If you are not sure whether your school is within 100km of Adelaide CBD check with Google Maps
  • Each session must have 21 or more students

Frequently asked questions

  • We would prefer smaller class sizes. Can we change our category? e.g. we have 80 students can we register as a large school?

Unfortunately not - unless you choose to participate in the program every two or three years so that students do not repeat the program. You need to indicate this on your registration.

    or

You choose to pay for the extra session or instructor/s. Government funding is based on the student numbers identified in the model with preference given to those who have not previously been part of the program. This gives access to the greatest number of schools and students across the state.

You can choose to pay for the delivery of an additional session. The cost would be in the range of $1300-$3800 in metropolitan areas, and $2000- $5400 in regional areas. To register for this option select your desired category then select 'Yes', to the question 'Are you planning to participate in a co-funded program?'.

Alternatively, you may elect to pay for an additional instructor to reduce the student to instructor ratio for all/some sessions. Indicate your interest in this option under page 6 of the registration form. Bike SA will provide a quote for your consideration.

  • What happens if we don't meet the minimum student participation numbers for the program delivery option we want? e.g. 60 students or less but preference for a standard school program with three sessions.

Your school will be re-categorised according to the number of students that will participate in the program.

  • What happens if we select a program option but then exceed the maximum number of students due to additional enrolments or class structures next year?

Advise Bike SA of your circumstances as soon as possible. It may be possible to plan for an additional session.

  • What options are available to schools with less than 30 students?

If there is another school near you that participates (or want to participate) in the program you may be able to combine your application with the other school. Contact us for further advice.

  • We have year 3/4 composite classes. Can our year 3 students participate?

Way2Go Bike Ed aims to develop students ability to manage an on-road traffic environment. For this reason only children from year 4 - 7 can participate. If you would like to discuss this further contact us.

  • We have students that have completed the program before. Can they participate?

In order to reach as many schools and students across the state as possible, priority is given to students who have not completed the program in previous years. Schools that participate annually program Way2Go Bike Ed into one specific year level curriculum and seek DIT approval if repeat students will be included. Schools that include more than one year level cohort usually register to participate every second or third year. Contact us if you need further advice.
