Go digital

29 May 2017

South Australians can now securely store their selected government issued pass and licence information on their smartphones and tablets following the release of a new app.

The new mySA GOV app allows proof of age card holders, boat licence holders, land agents and land sales representatives to add their credentials.

Users can also set up vehicle registration renewal notifications on their phones so they can be alerted when their vehicle registration is due to expire.

The State Government partnered with Adelaide company Appvation to develop the app that has been built on the existing mySA GOV account (formerly EzyReg) which currently has more than 270,000 users.

The mySA GOV app has had a number of security features built into it including a one-time barcode which refreshes every 30 seconds to prevent fake licences from being used.

Other identity services are expected to be added to the app including occupational licences and driver’s licences which are scheduled for release in the second half of this year.

Before passes and licences can be added to the app, users will need to sign up for a mySA GOV account and verify their identity for security purposes.

Standard physical passes and licences will remain in use for the foreseeable future and will still be provided to all licence holders. Some businesses may not yet be set up to validate digital passes or licences, so licence holders should continue to carry their physical pass or licence.
