Works to improve road safety at the Dukes Highway junction with the Princes Highway just south of Tailem Bend are currently underway.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that the works will consist of the installation of road lighting along the medians on all approaches to the junction.
The project will improve night time safety with the installation of new light emitting diode (LED), low energy use lighting.
The work will be undertaken between 7.00 am and 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
DPTI will make every effort to minimise the impact on road users during construction. The road will remain open to traffic with minor lane restrictions in place while the works are being undertaken.
DPTI advises a 25 km/h speed restriction will apply when workers are on site, with 80 km/h speed restriction in place at other times until the works are complete.
The works are expected to be completed by the end of March 2016, weather permitting.
The $510,000 safety upgrade is funded by the Australian Government’s Black Spot Programme.
DPTI thanks motorists for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
Drug drivers will face an automatic loss of licence under tough new drug-driving laws to be introduced to Parliament.
A new safety campaign has launched to send a powerful reminder to drivers to slow down and play their part in keeping our road crews safe.
18 kilometres of road resurfacing works on Barrier Highway will commence on Tuesday, 24 January 2017 to improve safety.
Safety on the Flinders Highway will soon be improved with safety barrier installation, shoulder sealing and line marking works commencing today.
