Safety upgrade on North East Road

02 Feb 2016

Safety will soon be improved for motorists with an upgrade on North East Road at the junction of Tippett Road, Chain of Ponds.

The works are expected to cost $200,000 and are funded through the Motor Accident Commission’s Adelaide Hills Priority Program.

A new linemarking scheme will provide a dedicated right turn lane for eastbound traffic on North East Road and modification of the left turn slip lane on North East Road to improve sight lines.

Works will also include improved street lighting and some asphalt resurfacing work.

Motor Accident Commission’s, Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Chia said, "This upgrade will significantly improve road safety for all road users at this location."

Works are scheduled to commence on 2 February 2016 and be completed by April 2016, weather permitting.

Access to North East Road and Tippett Road will be maintained during the works, with traffic restricted to one lane under traffic control when required and a 25 km/h speed restriction while workers are on site. Road users are asked to use extra caution when workers are on site.

This project is closely aligned with the Government’s Towards Zero Together Safety Strategy to greatly reduce road trauma through safer roads.

DPTI thanks motorists for their patience while these important safety works are undertaken.
