Safer roads on Limestone Coast

03 Jun 2014

Maintenance works along the Limestone Coast to improve the surface quality of the roads commence on Sunday 1 June 2014.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) is undertaking rut filling works at the following locations:

  • Riddoch Highway, approximately 11 kilometres south of Naracoorte for 1.1 kilometres
  • Princes Highway, approximately 13 kilometres east of Mount Gambier for 3 kilometres.

The work will be undertaken between 7.00 am and 5.30 pm each day of the week.

DPTI will make every effort to minimise the impact on road users during construction hours, with the road remaining open to traffic and minor lane restrictions in place while the works are being undertaken.

A 25 km/h speed restriction will apply when workers are on site, with speed restrictions in place at other times until line marking is complete.

Works are expected to be completed by end of June 2014, weather permitting.

The works are being carried out at a cost of $253,200 as part of the State Government’s Periodic Road Maintenance Program.
