Glynburn/Magill roads intersection upgrade

06 Dec 2013

A major upgrade of the intersection of Glynburn and Magill roads is planned to reduce the number and severity of crashes in the area.

The draft concept plan for the $4 million upgrade, which is funded as part of the Motor Accident Commission’s road safety initiatives, is on display from next week and the public is invited to comment on it.

The plan details improvements to the intersection to reduce crashes, discourage the use of adjacent local streets by through traffic, and improve turning movements.

There were 32 minor injury crashes between 2008 and 2013 (up to September 30) at the intersection; of these, 16 involved vehicle turning movements.

The plan will be on display at the Kensington Park Shopping Centre, 398 Magill Road, Kensington Park from Monday 9 December to Friday 20 December 2013. It will also be available to view online at

The plan includes:
• installation of dedicated right turn lanes on all approaches to the intersection
• installation of a separate left turn lane and corner island from Magill Road West
• fully controlled right turns
• overhead signal lanterns and new street lighting to improve signal visibility.

Project staff will be on hand at the display from 10.00 am to mid-day Thursday 12 December and 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm Wednesday 18 December to answer questions.
