Road Safety Minister, Jennifer Rankine says this year’s road toll of 102 fatalities is currently three above the record low of 99 deaths in 2008, but around 14 per cent lower than last year’s figure of 118.
“According to the latest SAPOL figures, serious injuries on our roads this year are tracking to be under 1,000 for the first time (978 as of midnight December 29) and are significantly lower that last year’s figure of 1050.
