Road Safety: Level Crossing Black Spot Program
Road Safety  >  Safer Roads  >

The Level Crossing Black Spot Program commenced in 2008. On 24 July 2008 the State Government and Local Government announced a new jointly funded level crossing improvement program. The program is one of the initiatives recommended by the State Level Crossing Strategy Advisory Committee.

The program involves a 50:50 funding split between State and Local Government for level crossing improvements on local roads. The State Government has committed up to $500,000 per annum for this program for four years.

The Department will call for project nominations for the 2012/2013 Level Crossing Black Spot Program later this year.

A panel of representatives from the Local Government Association and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure will assess the nominations in March 2012.
