A Facilities Levy is collected on the registration, inspection or survey of vessels.
Levy monies are paid into the Facilities Fund and used for establishing and improving boating facilities in South Australia's coastal and inland waters.
These might include boat ramps, temporary mooring facilities or wharves, channel improvements, aids to navigation or emergency VHF marine radio services.
The South Australian Boating Facility Advisory Committee (SABFAC) is responsible for the assessment of funding assistance applications, and making recommendations to the Minister for Transport on the allocation of funds. These recommendations can only be approved by the Minister.
