Having your Marine Qualifications Recognised in South Australia

All holders of Interstate, New Zealand, (other) Overseas or Military qualifications wishing to work in South Australian waters are required to hold an equivalent marine qualification.

It can take a considerable amount of time to process an overseas application, so if you are applying for a qualifications assessment, please ensure that you read the information carefully and provide us with as much information as possible.

Interstate certificate holders may need to apply for a South Australian recognition to work in South Australian waters. Please read the information provided on Interstate Certificates.

The Trans Tasman Agreement sets out certificates that have been recognised between New Zealand and Australia. Please read the information provided on New Zealand Certificates.

Recognition of Overseas Certificates, excluding New Zealand, need to go through the Australian Maritime Safety Authority for verification. Please read the information provided on Overseas Certificates.

National Guidelines have been developed to ensure a consistent approach across marine authorities toward the assessment of Military Qualifications. Please read the information provided on Military Certificates.
