Recognition of Military Marine Qualifications

The National Maritime Safety Committee in November 2000 released an assessment tool titled "Guidelines for Recognition of Australian Defence Force Marine Qualifications".

South Australia has adopted the use of these guidelines for the assessment of Defence Force personnel.

We recognise the service on defence force vessels as commercial service when full military records of training and sea service are provided.  You will be required to provide us with documented detail of your sea service.

To determine what level of certificate you will be eligible for you can read the full guidelines on the NMSC website:

www.nmsc.gov.au/publications_GuidanceManuals.html.
