Upgrade works underway at Port Pirie and complete at Forestville
BoysTown have commenced upgrade works on three Housing SA homes in Port Pirie as part of the Australian Government’s $42billion Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan.
BoysTown specialises in the employment of disadvantaged people who are traditionally long term unemployed. Currently employing four people for the Port Pirie homes, BoysTown also have another two trainees undergoing further training and development.
Some of the work being completed includes:
- Replacing floor tiles.
- Replacing skirting boards.
- Substituting power points.
- Replacing hot water systems.
- Fitting security screen doors.
- Replacing existing bathroom and toilet fittings.
- Repairing brickwork where required.
- Painting of interior.
- Landscaping gardens.
The work is scheduled to be completed by 23 November 2009.
Mazzarino Constructions have also recently completed upgrade works on a two bedroom Housing SA home in Forestville.
Funding from the Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan has resulted in a major upgrade on the property, primarily repairing extensive fire damage.
Mr Paul Mazzarino, from Mazzarino Constructions said that the additional Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan work has meant that his company’s work load has increased by 40 per cent, enabling him to employ two additional contractors.
The major upgrade included:
- Complete refurbishment of the house including the laundry, roof and kitchen area.
- Replacement of windows in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet.
- Replacement of electrical and plumbing fittings.
- Replacement of floorboards which had been exposed to the weather.
- Floorboards being polished.
- Installation of new security doors.
Work commenced 14 April 2009 and was completed 29 May 2009.
