Nuriootpa Primary School work
Nuriootpa Primary School is well underway with its Building the Education Revolution refurbishment works.
"One aspect of the refurbishment works that we are really excited about is the upgrading of our 12 teacher open space building. The space is quite unique, in the sense that it is a round building, so to help facilitate a 21st Century learning curriculum, the refurbishment works have included lining the walls of this building with sound absorbing material. The new material will also allow teachers to pin various learning materials and student work up on the walls," said Ms Sue Toone, School Principal at Nuriootpa Primary School.
As part of its refurbishment works, Nuriootpa Primary School has also received a new sandpit with shade cover for Junior Primary students, new carpet for its teaching areas and a small outdoor classroom area that will be used not only for recess and lunchtimes, but for teachers wanting to conduct outdoor classes.
Local trades have been used for the refurbishment works.
"In addition to the refurbishment works, the School is also really pleased to be receiving a new hall. Having a hall is a fantastic thing for us, its something the School will be able to use but also smaller local community groups such as the local rock and roll group and senior citizens group," said Ms Toone.
"The local building contractor building the new hall is CO Junken Builders Pty Ltd who actually first built the school back in 1977," said Ms Toone.
"The continuity of work has been great for business as we have been able to retain existing staff. In addition the extra work is having a positive spin off effect to local subcontractors in the area," said Mr James Gerhardy, Managing Director CO Juncken Builders Pty Ltd.
