New hall for Paringa Park Primary School
School projects funded by the Australian Government’s Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan (Economic Stimulus Plan), continue to make progress on the ground in South Australia.
Building contractor SJS Commercial (a part of the Scott Salisbury Group) have commenced works for the construction of a new hall at Paringa Park Primary School.
The footings are being prepared ready for the slab to be laid before the end of July 2009, weather permitting.
The new hall is part of round one for Primary Schools of the 21st Century works.
“We are really excited to have received funding under the Economic Stimulus Plan for this new hall,” says Ms Dianne Atwa, Paringa Park Primary School Principal.
“The new hall will provide students at Paringa Park Primary School with a new state of the art 21st Century learning facility along with a place for sporting clubs and local community groups to hold events and training courses,” says Ms Atwa.
The hall will also enable the school to gather as a whole community for physical education, cultural events and performances.
The benefits to the building industry are wide.
Site Manager, Mr Robert Saad from SJS Commercial, commented that work in the building industry started to slow down for a while at the beginning of the year, but with the additional work, things have started to pick up again in the commercial construction area.
SJS Commercial Business Manager, Mr Chris Went, also said the additional work has been great for business.
“We have been awarded another Primary School for the 21st Century school project under round two and a new Science and Language Learning Centre,” Mr Went says.
“As a result of the extra work we have managed to keep our top staff busy through the slow period and employed two trainees for the program.
“The flow on effect is already being seen by subcontractors, some of which we have had to assist with employing trainees and apprentices in anticipation of the increased workload due to round three allocations.”
