New and existing staff benefit from BER
New and existing staff at Sarah Constructions have been keeping busy with Building the Education (BER) works.
Workers have been at Elizabeth Downs Primary School levelling the site in preparation for the concrete slab to be laid for the construction of a new hall.
Demolition and site works are also nearing completion at Blakeview Primary School in preparation for a new general learning area.
“Extra staff have been employed to account for this additional work,” says Mr Sean Aplin, Manager Projects at Sarah Constructions.
“From our Projects Division alone, I have taken on a further four under graduates to assist my Project Managers with this work and have also employed an estimator, two foreman and a safety officer.
“I expect over the coming months to take on additional foremen, safety officers and labourers as the projects start to gain momentum.”
Mr Aplin also said that its not only about new employment opportunities, as the existing staff at Sarah Constructions have also benefited from the sustained company growth and are recognising career development opportunities that have opened up within the organisation.
Sub contractors are also reaping the rewards.
“I am pleased with the response we are getting from our trades, who are also active in recruitment of new people with a preference for apprentices and new trainees,” says Mr Aplin.
Building contractor, Sarah Constructions, have been awarded nine Primary Schools for the 21st Century projects and one Science and Language Learning Centre project as part of the BER funded by the Australian Government’s Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan.
