Cleve Area School and Lake Wangary Primary School work
Works are underway at Cleve Area School and Lake Wangary Primary School.
"We are very excited about the six new classrooms, teacher work areas and student independent learning areas that our school is receiving," said Mr Mick Braham, School Principal at Cleve Area School.
"The six classrooms will be separated by an eight metre wide covered space, that will be used for outdoor activities. The classroom windows will face in towards this new outdoor space, providing what we call 'window connectedness' so that the teacher is able to supervise students outside and inside the classroom area. The new student independent learning areas will feature computers and will also have windows allowing for supervision from the classrooms," said Mr Braham.
The site has been prepared, with the soil levelled ready for the slab to be laid in the coming weeks.
Lake Wangary Primary School will also be receiving a new hall and refurbishment works.
"We are greatful for the opportunity to have this hall, as it is not something we would have had otherwise. The refurbishment works will also give the school a refreshing lift," said Ms Vicki Shakes, School Principal at Lake Wangary Primary School.
Refurbishment works include painting of internal and external school areas, the demolition of an existing classroom wall to increase the learning area space available and the installation of smartboards in classrooms to enhance learning experiences for students. The school's hall will also be available for community use as required.
Preliminary work for the hall has been undertaken, with the school recently choosing the colour scheme.
