Moving Right Along: Obligations and Opportunities for Older Drivers is a program that encourages safer, greener and more active travel for older South Australians.

A series of eleven Information Sheets provide information about:

  • maintaining the ability to drive safely and effectively for longer
  • the effects that ageing, medical conditions and medications have on driving
  • maintaining mobility and preparing to drive less or giving up driving altogether
  • helping a family member or friend face the issue of reducing or giving up driving
  • fitness to drive, the Driver Medical Assessment and Practical Driving Assessment
  • the legal obligations of licensed drivers in South Australia.

Moving Right Along is for individuals, their families and friends and can be used in conjunction with other resources and advice from health professionals. Content in Moving Right Along complies with Assessing Fitness to Drive (Austroads 2012 edition).

Workshops

The Information Sheets are also an integral part of Moving Right Along workshops. The workshops enable delivery by Community Road Safety groups, councils, care agencies and service clubs in metropolitan and regional areas of South Australia.

Watch for information about Moving Right Along workshops in your community.

A Moving Right Along kit is available for use in planning and facilitating workshops. Copies of the kit have been distributed to Community Road Safety Groups throughout South Australia. It is also available for loan through public libraries to community groups planning to host workshops in their suburb, town or region.
