Aboriginal Secondary Students Work Experience Program

The DIT Aboriginal Secondary Students Work Experience Program aims to provide Aboriginal secondary school students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the workplace. Program participants are provided with the opportunity to spend a week working within a chosen area of DIT.

Program participants will have an opportunity to:

  • be exposed to a variety of career options
  • develop and enhance essential workplace skills (e.g. communication, problem solving and working with others)
  • gain an insight into working in a government environment.
Who can apply?

The DIT Aboriginal Secondary Students Work Experience Program is open to Aboriginal secondary students, currently studying in year 10, 11 and 12.
The department can support you by:

  • making transport easy by providing one Multi-trip bus/ train ticket per student
  • providing advice to assist you in deciding which particular business unit of The Department you wish to be placed in
  • organising small group placement.
