Yurangka Kari - Cadetships to Undergraduate Degrees

The department has committed to providing Cadetships to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are currently enrolled in Undergraduate Degrees. These cadetships provide students with financial and mentoring support, combined with practical work experience. Cadetships provide participants with a solid foundation for pursuing careers in their chosen field.

What is the Yurangka Kari Program?

The Yurangka Kari program provides participants the opportunity to

  • combine tertiary education with work experience
  • develop and enhance essential workplace skills
  • gain insight into working in a government environment
  • join the Graduate Program on completion of studies
  • be exposed to a broad range of potential workplace
  • work in a cultural inclusive workplace.

The benefits to students include:

  • an ongoing employment agreement on successful completion of work and study
  • a living allowance
  • a $1000 book allowance per year
  • mentoring / support
  • participation in the Aboriginal Employee Network Forums.
