A School Travel Plan draws together all components of the Way2Go program.
  • School Travel Plans are unique to each participating school.
  • They are published online as PDF files.
  • Plans have five-year duration. During the fifth year, planning for the next five-year period occurs.
  • An education consultant from the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure's Way2Go team assists each school in developing their plan.
  • School Travel Plans encourage safer, greener and more active travel for children's school journeys.

School Travel Plans include:

  • a school profile
  • an overview of the local government council's plan for improving walking and cycling routes leading to local schools
  • an active travel program and range of associated resources, initiatives and events
  • an education plan for teaching Way2Go across Early Years, Primary Years and Middle Years and incorporating use of Way2Go resources
  • plan for distributing Way2Go Home info to students and their families.

Depending on a school community's interest and need, the emphasis could range across, for example, rail safety, greener travel, cycling safety or walking as active travel.

To develop your School Travel Plan:

A Way2Go education consultant from the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure provides training and is available to support your participation as a  Way2Go school.

School Travel Plans from South Australian schools participating in Way2Go are available online.
